For former University of North Carolina tight end and 2014 NFL Draft prospect Eric Ebron, May 8 will be a day to remember for more than one reason. On Thursday, the 21-year-old revealed that he and his girlfriend of two years, Brittany Rountree, had gotten engaged.

Ebron, who is widely considered to be the best tight end prospect in this year’s draft, proposed to Rountree on top of the Empire State Building in New York, Fox Sports 1 reports. The pair was already slated to sit in the “Green Room,” reserved for players who are likely to be selected early in the draft, but now Rountree will be able to show off her engagement ring for the cameras.

Moments after Rountree said yes, Ebron took to Instagram to post a photo of happy couple. “She said YES #WIFE #ENGAGED,” he wrote.

In an interview with Fox Sports 1’s Peter Schrager, Ebron said that he bought the ring last week and admitted to being a “ball of nerves” before the proposal.

Rountree, who attended the University of North Carolina alongside Ebron, is currently a junior guard on the school’s basketball team, Yahoo Sports notes. She averaged 7.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore.

By Thursday night, Ebron and his new fiancée will likely celebrate his official entrance into the NFL. NFL draft expert Mike Mayock believes that the New York Giants will select the 6-foot 4-inch, 245-pound tight end with the 12th pick of the first round.
