All those people who made negative remarks about Gabby Douglas' upswept competition updo better watch their backs, or should we say, their necks? Douglas has some serious preternatural forces behind her.

Her posse at "The Vampire Diaries" -- includes, Ian Somerhalder, 33, Paul Wesley, 30, Michael Trevino, 27, Claire Holt, 24, and Nina Dobrev, 23 -- are more than willing to take a bite out of any naysayers in support of their Olympian -- otherwise known as the Flying Squirrel.

The cast sent Gabby a congratulatory message immediately after her all-around gold medal win at the London 2012 Olympic Games. In all likelihood, the 16-year-old probably rewound Somerhalder's portion several times as she has publicly admitted to having a major "crush" on the blue-eyed brooding hunk.

How does she plan to snatch him away from girlfriend, Nina Dobrev? "I'll show him my gold medal. You never know!" she said jokingly.

"It's amazing and to think I'm part of their little group now is so cool!" added a giddy Douglas. "They tweeted at me. You know you've finally made it when the stars are tweeting at you. They're backing me up."

We certainly understand why Gabby is head-over-heels about Somerhalder, but he's more than just a pretty face. He's the founder of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, which "aims to empower, educate, and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures."

According to the IS Foundation's online site: "We are a team, a group of people, who view the environment as an interconnected organism of which we are not separate but a part of. There is no differentiation between all living things: trees, rivers, animals and humans. We are all one interdependent organism."
