In the span of just a few days, Kevin Grow went from being the manager of a high school basketball team in Pennsylvania to an honorary member of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Grow, a senior at Bensalem High School in Philadelphia, signed a two-day contract with the 76ers on Monday. To make the deal official, he personally met with 76ers team president and general manager Sam Hinkie.

The 18-year-old, who suffers from Down syndrome, has spent the past four years as a manager for Bensalem’s high school basketball team, according to a press release on NBA.com. He became the star of the Internet when the team’s coaches decided to let him play in the final home game of his senior season.

Grow scored 14 points in the game, including four three-pointers and a buzzer-beating shot, For The Win notes. A video of Grow’s basketball exploits went viral on YouTube, garnering more than 600,000 views.

“It’s tough to describe. It really is,” John Mullin, the head basketball coach at Bensalem High, told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “It’s one of those things that doesn’t happen often.”

Upon signing his two-day contract, Grow spent the rest of Monday evening hanging out with 76ers players. He ate dinner with the team, received a tour of their practice facility and his own customized gear, NBA.com reports. He also made an appearance at team practice on Monday night, where he shot around and performed drills with the rest of the roster.

Grow’s 76ers experience will continue on Tuesday, when he and his family attend the team’s home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’ll receive his own jersey and go on a tour of the team locker room before sitting down to watch the action.
