The infamous “Presidents Cup Streaker” claims she was simply trying to bring a little excitement to a rainy day in Ohio.

Kimberly Webster, 23, took the Internet by storm over the weekend by taking off her clothes and streaking near the 17th green at the Presidents Cup. The Plainville, Mass., woman ran past PGA Tour golfers Steve Stricker and Ernie Els, yelling "Streak For Stricker" and drawing the attention of just about everyone in the crowd.

In an interview with Stephanie Wei of golf blog “Wei Under Par,” Webster revealed that she decided to become the “Presidents Cup Streaker” after noticing that the Dublin, Ohio, crowd seemed depressed after weather delays. Working as a temp for a catering company in the event’s hospitality tent, she decided to take action.

“I thought, imagine if someone streaked through this, it’d be hilarious, so we joked about it,” Webster told Wei on Monday. “I wanted to add a little excitement to golf because everyone seemed kind of depressed and like they weren’t having fun because of the weather. I hadn’t been to a lot of sporting events … I just thought it would be interesting to try something like this.”

Webster’s decision was nothing if not interesting. Within minutes of her daring dash, the phrase “Presidents Cup Streaker” was trending worldwide on social media platforms.

“The top streakers of all time were all men, so I decided I wanted to change that. … It was golf — it’s quiet and boring — and it was to make the top streakers of all time [as a woman],” Webster told Wei.

Webster said she called up a friend of hers who happened to be a police officer to determine if she’d face any criminal charges for streaking. When the friend assured that she’d likely face a “disorderly conduct” charge, and probably wouldn’t be arrested, she decided to go through with her plan.

At first, Webster planned on streaking past Tiger Woods, Wei reports. But she worried that Woods wouldn’t approach her position near the 17th hole, so she changed her target to Stricker. Wearing nothing but a pair of stickers and red underwear, Webster sprinted from the 17th hole toward the 18th green, but ran out of breath and veered off into the woods.

It didn’t take long for police to catch up with the Presidents Cup Streaker. “The cops kept asking me, ‘Are you intoxicated? Are you on drugs? Who are you working for?’” Webster said. Ultimately, Dublin police issued her a $99 fine and released her without taking fingerprints or a mug shot.

When police officers gave Webster a sheet to cover herself, she decided to turn it into a fashion statement. “(The cops) gave me a sheet and I made a toga and they were like, Really? A toga now?,’ she told Wei. “And I thought, ‘Well I should be fashionable and what else should I do with this sheet?”

Webster seems to have embraced her newfound fame. The 23-year-old doesn’t have a Facebook, but created a Twitter account with the handle “@PresCupStreaker.” Photos of Webster can be viewed here.
