Meghan Markle has to learn to defend herself before she joins the British royal family.

An insider told Entertainment Tonight that Markle is seeking the help of a professional martial arts trainer to learn the basics of self-defense. This is deemed necessary even if the "Suits" actress will be traveling with royal protection.

Days before Prince Harry and Markle announced their engagement, the "Horrible Bosses" star was spotted shopping at King's Road in Chelsea. Her then-boyfriend and now-fiancé was out of sight, but Markle was reportedly guarded by the Met Police's Protection Command.

Specially trained officers are reportedly working with the actress and teaching her some tips on what to do during terrorist attacks. She was also taught what she should do if she's taken hostage. "Meghan will be trained in many different [areas], including what public places she should avoid, what she should do if she was ever approached and attacked in public and how to release herself from a situation like that," the source told ET.

Aside from learning self-defense, the 36-year-old star is reportedly seeking the best known personal trainers in the U.K. to "get her in the best shape before the wedding in May."

In related news, Prince Harry and Markle's wedding will not be as extravagant as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal wedding in 2011. The newly engaged couple opted to have the ceremony in a much smaller church, St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Prince Harry and Markle may also skip the balcony kiss because they can't immediately return to the Buckingham Palace. Thus, they might also forgo the traditional horse-drawn carriage royal ride. In addition, the couple's wedding guest list is expected to have more celebrities and fewer dignitaries.

As for Markle's wedding gown, she might opt for a "relaxed" and "California style" dress. At the moment, the palace is keeping mum as to who will design it. She might, however, wear Princess Diana's Spencer tiara on her big day.

Prince Harry and Markle apparently want to pay tribute to the late Princess of Wales on their wedding day. As such, the actress may wear the late princess' headdress or choose one of Princess Diana's favorite designers to create her wedding gown.
