Meghan Markle recently declared that yoga is her thing. After all, her mom, Doria Radlan, is an instructor of the discipline.

The 36-year-old former actress typically practices yoga a couple of hours every week. Just recently, her previous interview resurfaced alongside photos of her doing some yoga poses.

“That practice is in my blood. There are so many benefits that come with the practice of yoga… increased flexibility and muscle strength, greater happiness, increased mental focus, a greater ability to relax, decreased anxiety and better sleep,” she told Canada’s Women’s Health magazine (via the Express Tribune).

In one of her photos, Markle is doing a wheel yoga pose wherein half her body is bent backwards and her left leg is raised upward. In a second picture, Prince Harry’s fiancée is doing the bow. Her tummy is resting on the floor while she’s holding both of her ankles with her hands stretched backwards.

After Markle’s photos resurfaced online, Ellen Chee, chairman of the Independent Yoga Network praised the actress’ strength and flexibility. After all, the poses she was photographed in were mostly back bends.

“Because she is obviously a strong, flexible practitioner, people like Meghan generally favor back bending because it has such an effective stretching action on the front of the body. Back bending generally stimulates the body. If your energy is low and you are feeling quite lethargic, particularly if you are sitting at a desk all day, any form of back bending physically and emotionally lifts your heart and your energy,” she told the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, Markle also swears by running or jogging. “Running has always been my form of moving meditation, which I relish because it allows me to get out of my head. I love to jog, although as I’ve gotten older running has become hard on my knees, so I can’t run outside the way I used to,” she said.

When her schedule is packed, Markle can’t afford to go for long runs. Instead, she makes it a point to go outside and walk her dogs. This way, she is able to exercise as well.
