Melania Trump received the Woman of Distinction award, Wednesday, from the Palm Beach Atlantic University for her contributions to improving the country. Event organizers cited the FLOTUS’s “Be Best” campaign that focuses on the children's and youth’s safety, including their general well-being, online security, and opioid abuse. Though the announcement raised numerous eyebrows, avid followers of President Donald Trump’s wife gave nothing but love and support to her.

Students for Trump movement founder and co-chairman Ryan Fournier congratulated Melania on Twitter and stated there is no other person who deserves the award. While there will be a bunch of clowns on the debate stage tonight, Melania Trump will receive a major honor. The First Lady is receiving Palm Beach Atlantic University's 2020 Woman of Distinction honor. I can’t think of a better recipient. Congratulations!” he said.

“That is awesome. IMO we have the best 1st Lady ever, she is the best of the best in the long line of past 1st Ladies! Trump 2020!” one netizen wrote. I must say, it’s wonderful to see our FLOTUS receive credit & recognition so deserved! Congratulations! @MELANIATRUMP First Lady Melania Trump to receive 2020 Woman of Distinction award,” another Twitter user stated.

In a statement, Mar-a-Lago member and event co-chair Eileen Burns explained why Melania Trump deserved the award. “Our first lady is an exquisite human being, a magnificent wife and life partner, a superb mother and an outstanding first lady, who represents us brilliantly in the United States and worldwide,” she said. “Melania is a perfect example of a Woman of Distinction and we are most proud to honor her,” Burns continued.

Palm Beach Atlantic University president Bill Fleming, also, made it clear that selecting Melania Trump is not a political statement. Instead, he described the move as an “honorable” thing to do. Fleming even revealed he did not think twice about the suggestion that the FLOTUS will be the sole honoree this year.

Past recipients of the award include Dr. Gail Austin Cooney, medical director emeritus for Hospice of Palm Beach County; Dr. Ben Carson and Candy Carson, co-founder of Carson Scholars Fund; Audrey Gruss, founder of Hope for Depression Research Foundation and Palm Beach Mayor Gail Coniglio.

During her acceptance speech, Melania Trump stated she was “grateful” to accept the award. “As the first lady of the United States, it is a great honor to serve the people of this incredible country,” she said. “When we teach our children to cherish our values and care for each other, they are better prepared to carry on Americans’ legacy of compassion, service and patriotism,” she went on.
