Melissa King, the former Miss Delaware Teen USA who gave up her crown in February after a porn video surfaced online, was sentenced to one year of probation for a 2012 underage alcohol charge in Maryland.

King pleaded guilty to the underage alcohol charge in a Maryland district court and paid a $100 fine, reports the News Journal. She received the charge when police found a bottle of rum in the truck she was driving during a routine traffic stop. Her attorney, J. Gregory Hannigan, said the rum and the truck belonged to King’s father, but she accepted responsibility, notes the News Journal.

King appeared briefly outside the court with Hannigan after she pleaded guilty to the underage alcohol charge. Another charge for theft, stemming from a June 2012 incident where King allegedly stole money from a city bus, was dropped.

The 19-year-old is looking to put these incidents behind her and start fresh in college this fall. Regarding those plans, Hannigan would only say the school is located in the western U.S, notes the News Journal. “So that she can be a normal freshman, we’re going to keep the name quiet,” Hannigan said, adding that she wants to become a journalist after college.

King became famous overnight when a sex-tape scandal forced her to resign as Miss Delaware Teen USA 2012. The beauty queen initially denied making such a tape, but GirlsDoPorn.com revealed details about the porn video, including the initial contract signing where she states her name as “Melissa King.” After King resigned as Miss Delaware Teen USA, Hailey Lawler, the runner-up, was crowned and will compete for the Miss Teen USA crown in August.

Following the release of the porn video, King was offered a $250,000 contract from YouPorn to become its global ambassador and to be crowned Miss YouPorn.

The former beauty queen has not discussed the incident since her initial denials, but Hannigan stated King will eventually release a statement about the sex tape.
