Some 2.2 million SoCal residents are heading for a Memorial weekend getaway on a road trip, up from last year, according to Automobile Club of Southern California.

Socal is also expecting travelers into the area: Los Angeles Airport is expecting over 800,000 travelers over the holiday weekend, an increase of 5% from last year, while Burbank's Bob Hope airport expects 40,000 travelers.

Travelers should be advised of wind gusts of up to 40 mph around the Los Angeles beaches, according to a special weather advisory warning issued by the National Weather Service. Wind gusts could exceed 50 mph in mountain areas.

The temperature is expected to range from mid-60s to low 70s, and 80s in the valleys.

All travelers on the road are expected to wear seat belts for safe travel, as the California Highway Patrol will be on watch for violators.
