Mercedes-Benz is playing a major part at this year's Palm Springs International Film Festival, its official vehicle of the two-week event. Like most stars in the spotlight, the A-list luxury automaker's usage of hybrid luxury models in chauffeuring the celebrity presenters and honorees enriches its role in the show. It also sends an important message to the world about the significance of being environmentally friendly. The 2010 S400 Hybrid sedan and ML450 Mercedes-Benz are this year's cars of the stars.

Celebrities attending the 21st running of the film festival include Sean Penn, Helen Mirren, Marion Cotillard, Michelle Pfieffer, Lee Daniels, Rob Marshall, Diablo Cody, T Bone Burnett, Anna Kendrick, and Jeff Bridges.

The festival began January 5 with its Annual Awards Gala, which was hosted by Entertainment Tonight's Mary Hart. Actors Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren received the Career Achievement award, while Marion Cotillard and Jeff Bridges took home the Desert Palm Achievement Actress and Actor; Quentin Tarantino won the Sonny Bono Visionary Award. Jason Reitman picked up Director of the Year honors, and Jeremy Renner and Mariah Carey took the Breakthrough Performance awards. T Bone Burnett received the Frederick Loewe Award for Film Composing, and Anna Kendrick won the Rising Star Award.

The PSIFF, which runs through January 18, includes 200-plus films from more than 60 countries with over 400 screenings.
