Challenges facing Merkel and opposition led the party lose voters in Merkel's birth city; meanwhile, three more ballots next month are scheduled where Merkel will try to restore confidence in the Christian Democratic Union that acquired 21.6 percent of votes in elections today, while the Social Democrats, which is Merkel's opposition party, acquired nearly 49.0 percent on votes.
