German Chancellor Angela Merkel said her country will do whatever is needed to support the euro, especially after the decline in the European common currency to four-month low against the dollar.

She said yesterday Germany is ready to accept any change in the terms of the European rescue fund which raises the likelihood that Germany may accept the expansion to the 440 billion-euro rescue fund despite the resistance of majority of Germans for such a step, yet after the rise the bond yields and cost against insurance to record high Germany may change its opposition to aiding other highly indebted nations such as Portugal.

On the other hand, Merkel is expected to face opposition with regard letting investors participate in sharing losses.
