Merrill Lynch & Co is negotiating to hire the former head of Goldman Sachs' asset management division, Peter Kraus to a position overseeing strategy, according Bloomberg.

Kraus, 55, left Goldman in March after a 21 year tenure at the investment bank.

Merrill's chief executive John Thain has recently hired other former Goldman colleagues where was a president of the firm.

On Monday, Merrill announced that it hired the former head of Goldman's trading division, Thomas Montag, to lead the global sales and trading unit at Merrill.

Other positions filled by former Goldman hires include the head of risk management Noel Donohoe and chief of staff May Lee.
