Meryl Streep week continues with news that the Oscar winner has donated $10,000 a scholarship fund in Rhode Island.

According to the Associated Press, the 62-year-old's donation to the Rhode Island Upward Bound scholarship fund was made in honor of Viola Davis, who was a fellow nominee in the Best Actress category at the Oscars this year.

Davis, 46, first started the fund more than 20 years ago.

Streep is the latest artist to make philanthropy headlines this week, joining Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey.

On Wednesday, Gaga and the talk show host queen visited Harvard to launch the Born This Way Foundation, along with Deeap Chopra and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

The fund is aimed at empowering young people.
