Michael Jackson died at age of 50 in Los Angeles, city officials confirmed to several news agencies.

CNN, the New York Times, the Associated Press, and Los Angeles Times also confirmed the death.

By 12:21 pm PST a 911 call was made and paramedics arrived to his home in west Los Angeles, according to CNN. CPR was administered and then he was rushed to UCLA Medical Center, according the report.

Around 3:30 pm there was word that he was in a coma and within minutes there were reports in several media outlets that he was dead, including the L.A. Times and the Associated Press.

A Los Angeles city official confirmed that Michael Jackson is dead. The official said he passed away at 1:07 p.m. Pacific, The New York Times noted at 4:00 p.m.

The King of Pop suffered a cardiac arrest which is different from a heart attack.

I am completely numb, David J. White, a Michael Jackson fan told CNN in an interview following the news.

Crowds of media and fans were gathered at the UCLA hospital on Thursday. Networks NBC and CBS scheduled broadcast TV specials of Jackson tonight at 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. respectively.
