A free birthday bash for the public celebration of Michael Jackson's birthday will be held on Saturday and is expected to draw a crowd of more than 10,000, the New York Times reported.

The party will be held in the Nethermead meadow in Prospect Park, NY on Saturday afternoon from noon to 5pm. It originally was planned for Fort Greene Park but was moved following predictions of a big crowd. An initial crowd of 2,000 was expected.

DJ Spinna will be playing Jackson hits, from the Jackson 5 to the Jacksons to Michael Jackson.

The paper says the Rev. Al Sharpton will say a prayer at the party. President Marty Markowitz will present a proclamation declaring August 29 Michael Jackson Day in Brooklyn.

Jackson would have turned 51.

The event is sponsored by Director Spike Lee.
