Michelle Obama, the soon-to-be first lady, accompanied her daughters on the eve of her husband's inauguration to a teen filled Kid's Inaugural: We Are the Future concert.

Her appearance received a tremendous response from the audience, even surpassing the response teen star Miley Cyrus got from fans.

You kids are the future of this great nation. We need every American to serve their community, including our young people. And at this extraordinary moment in our nation's history, we wanted to be able to join in on this celebration and share this incredible journey with us, Obama said to the crowd who included military families and children.

Obama told the crowd that they can serve their community by volunteering in a homeless shelter, visit an elderly person or write letters to US troops.

The event honored the children and parents of America's military families other adults included Billy Ray Cyrus, George Lopez, Queen Latifah, Rosario Dawson, Usher and Jamie Foxx.

Cyrus performed her inspirational song, The Climb, for the first time and Jonas Brothers performance got Obama on her feet and Malia and Sasha to come up on stage.
