The Reuters/University of Michigan survey of consumer sentiments showed the headline gauge of consumer confidence unexpectedly slipped to 75.7 in mid-April from 76.2 in March, trailing median estimates of 76.2.

According to the survey, economic conditions index ticked lower to 8.6 from 86.0 while economic outlook index rose to 72.5 from 69.8. As for Inflation, one-year ahead expectations eased to 3.4 percent from 3.9 percent, while five-year ahead expectations stood at 3.0 percent.
