Sabrina’s relationship with her poetry teacher has Mickey concerned in next week’s Season 2, episode 8 of Fox’s “The Mick.”

According to the synopsis for the Eva Longoria-directed installment, Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) takes matters into her own hands to find out the real score between Sabrina (Sofia Black-D'Elia) and her teacher Brian Reed (Nate Smith) but ends up humiliating herself and her niece in front of her peers.

While it’s unclear why Mickey suddenly becomes worried about Sabrina and Brian’s relationship, promo photos for the episode suggest that Mickey suspects there’s a romance brewing between the two. In an attempt to break off the presumed attraction between Sabrina and Brian, Mickey tries to flirt with Brian. But because Sabrina and Brian’s relationship is not what Mickey thinks it is, she only ends up embarrassing herself.

Elsewhere in the episode, Chip (Thomas Barbusca) enlists Jimmy’s (Scott MacArthur) help to improve his ranking on the 8th grade hot list.

While the episode is Longoria’s first directing gig on “The Mick,” the Golden Globe-nominated actress has directed a number of TV series before. These include Lifetime’s “Devious Maids,” The CW’s “Jane the Virgin,” NBC’s “Telenovela,” and ABC’s “Black-ish.”

“Directing is something that I love to do, and I definitely want to keep directing,” Longoria told Variety in April. “To me, it’s like my second nature. It comes second nature for me. It’s a place where I feel like I can use all of my creative muscles.”

While Longoria is relatively new to directing, the “Desperate Housewives” alum thinks that she’s “really good” at it. “The reason I say — confidently not arrogantly — [that] I am a really good director [is] because I am a woman,” she explained. “And because directing is about problem solving and I think women are the best problem solvers in the world. it’s a full day of problem solving everyday on set.”

Longoria added that the “daunting” fact that women are not able to share their stories was what made her decide to go behind the camera. “It’s the reason why I got behind the camera because if you don’t become the storyteller then your stories won’t be told and they won’t be told from the female perspective,” she said.

“The Mick” Season 2, episode 8, titled “The Teacher,” airs on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
