Sabrina (Sofia Black-D’Elia), Chip (Thomas Barbusca), and Ben (Jack Stanton) go to the 100th birthday party of their great-grandmother Rita Pemberton (Judith Roberts) in tonight’s episode of “The Mick.” But the kids — along with their companions Mickey (Kaitlin Olson), Jimmy (Scott MacArthur), and Alba (Carla Jimenez) — have some trouble entering the party venue when one of the usher refuses to let them in.

“I’m not seeing a Mullen,” the usher tells Mickey while checking the event guest list in a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 6 of the Fox series.

“Maybe because that’s not my name,” an irate Mickey replies. “It’s Mickey Molng.”

When the usher mispronounces Mickey’s last name once again, Chip steps in and asks help from his grandmother Tippy (Concetta Tomei). “Grandma, tell this door jockey there’s a mistake. We’re not on the guest list,” Chip says.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Tippy responds in a rather antagonistic tone. “Probably because, you weren’t invited,” Tippy says. “You’re an infected limb of this family and I’ve decided to sever you.”

According to the synopsis for the installment, Rita mistakes Mickey to be an old friend, so perhaps it’s the birthday celebrant herself who let Mickey and the kids enter the party.

But being the free rider that she is, Mickey takes advantage of Rita’s goodness. As seen in the trailer for the episode, Mickey and Rita bond over drinking, shopping, and skeet shooting. Mickey, however, later finds out that Rita’s feelings for her is more than just platonic.

At some point in the trailer, Rita tries to touch Mickey’s hand during what appears to be a lunch date. And later in the video, a naked Rita sneaks into Mickey’s room and tries to kiss her on the lips. “Take me,” Rita affectionately tells Mickey.

Meanwhile, aside from Tippy, the kids’ grandfather — who goes by the alias The Colonel (E.J. Callahan) — also returns in the episode. As fans remember, Tippy and the Colonel made their first appearance in Season 1, episode 2, in which Mickey called them up to discipline their grandchildren.

“The Mick” Season 2, episode 6, titled “The Matriarch,” airs tonight at 9 p.m. on Fox.
