Xbox One owners in search of alternative controller options will have a premium choice to pick up this spring.

Microsoft announced Tuesday the Recon Tech Special Edition Controller, the first controller in its Tech Series of deluxe Xbox One controllers. The controller will retail for $69.99 and be available starting April 25.

Externally, the controller is built around a slate black exterior and features a variety of premium design features. Via Microsoft’s Major Nelson, the Xbox team “was inspired by military technology and performance patterns, exploring concepts stemming from combat armor and sci-fi mechanical gear” when designing the controller.

The Recon’s body has diamond-etched grips, a streamlined button layout and dedicated directional pad for better responsiveness. Elsewhere, you’ll also find a 3.5mm audio output for directly connecting a gaming headset and Bluetooth connectivity that’ll let you connect the controller to a PC or tablet.

Microsoft also said the controller sports improved wireless range when paired with a console. Through Microsoft’s Accessories app, you’ll also be able to remap individual buttons on the app. The controller also supports Microsoft’s Copilot feature, which is out later this year. Through Copilot, two controllers can simultaneously be used as a single controller in a game. The feature is designed for families or gamers who need alternative accessible controller configurations.
