Microsoft has announced the new evolution of its Zune player called Zune HD to be available this fall serving high-definition video and high-definition radio.

The new Zune HD is the next iteration of the Zune device family. The device will be equipped with a high-definition video output, radio, 3.3 high resolution touch screen, Web Browser and of course a Wifi connections.

The HD video output of the device capabilities will allow end-user to playback HD video files through a separate docking station direct to HD television set, Microsoft said.

The Zune music player is an integral part of the overall Zune experience, and we’re proud to be growing and extending our offering beyond the device,” said Enrique Rodriguez, corporate vice president of the Microsoft TV, Video and Music Business Group.

In addition, Zune will also extend its video service to Xbox LIVE.

“Delivering on Microsoft’s connected entertainment vision, this news marks a turning point for Zune as it brings cross-platform experiences and premium video content to living rooms around the world,” Rodriguez said.
