Microsoft Corp. is expanding its research and development center in Shanghai which will focus on server, data management and Windows Live services, reported Shanghai Daily on Wednesday.

The 100,000 square meter expanded center in Zizhu Industrial Park in southwest Shanghai is expected to open by the end of next year.

The center will be Microsoft's largest on the mainland, and will employ 6,000 people. No price was given for the cost.
