Retailers Best Buy and Walmart are now offering the 8 GB Microsoft Lumia 640 smartphone for just $29.99. Best Buy

Microsoft recently released the metal-clad mid-ranger Lumia 650. Now, the predecessor Lumia 640’s price has been slashed significantly at Best Buy and Walmart.

Both Best Buy and Walmart are offering the Microsoft Lumia 640 for just $29.99. The original price of the handset used to be $59.99. This means, buyers can save $30 with this deal.

This handset is available under AT&T's GoPhone pre-paid offering. It is worth noting that the Lumia 640 is eligible for a free upgrade to the latest Windows 10 Mobile OS.

The discounted model supports 4G LTE and it can be purchased in Black hue. Here is the link to order the 8 GB Lumia 640 from Best Buy and this link takes to Walmart’s website. Walmart said this deal can only be availed from the physical stores located across the U.S. Readers can use the link above to check if the discounted device is available in their area.

Microsoft Lumia 640 features a pocket-friendly 5.0-inch IPS LCD display, packed with 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution. This display combination translates to a pixel density of 294 ppi. The screen is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 panel and Microsoft has made use of the much-appreciated ClearBlack display technology.

Under the hood, the Lumia 640 is powered by a quad-core (Snapdragon 400) processor, running at 1.2 GHz, and backed by 1 GB of RAM. Apart from the 8 GB of in-built storage space, this handset supports microSD card for expansion of up to 128 GB.

When it comes to camera configuration, it sports an 8-megapixel rear-facing sensor with LED flash. However, the front-facing shooter is a letdown, as it carries only a modest 1-megapixel sensor. This phone comes equipped with a 2,500 mAh battery unit, which is apparently capable of providing up to 17 hours and 30 minutes of talk time and 864 hours of stand-by time.
