Microsoft has made available its new MS Office 2011 for Mac SP1. The version is ready for download and is tipped to be more secure and stable. Printing errors which lead to wrong pages in the buffer can be avoided with the updated version, said the company.

The new version has some improvements like an attacker over writing the contents of one’s computer memory with malicious code will not happen now. The use of Alt text objects such as shapes, pictures, SmartArt and movies is an additional feature in the updated version.

For MS Excel, some of the improvements made were, inclusion of the Solver add-in, improved reliability when read-only options are enabled, improvement in save function, conditional formatting and printing.

The new version allows users to install the solver analysis tool. Earlier, the open option would not function when open as read-only was opted for and this has been rectified. The updated version also prevents the saving of some documents if they contain comments. There has been a mistake proofing in case of application of incorrect page settings and wrong printing of pages when specific pages are selected.

In case of MS PowerPoint for Mac, password protect has been included and print preview has been improvised by correcting the issue of print preview not getting updated properly. The drop-out of recorded narration during playback has been corrected and the rehearse mode has been ameliorated, said the company on its website.

Other improvements made for MS Outlook in the updated version include: Synchronization, Rules functionality, Resend, Redirect and Meeting invitation functionalities. The stability when a file is opened or saved is better now. Spell check error messaging, character spacing in draft view, find and replace functionality and printing pictures have also been enhanced, said the company.
