The Microsoft Surface Phone is currently under the wraps and it may be a lethal weapon that the company is readying to pit against the Apple iPhone 7. During the interview, Chris Capossela, the Chief Marketing Officer with the Redmond giant urged consumers to have patience as the company requires more time in building the long-rumored Microsoft Surface Phone.

Capossela added that it will be a breakthrough device indicating that it will arrive with impressive specs and features. It was also recently revealed that the prototype model of the Surface phone is currently under the works with the Surface Team.

The Microsoft Surface Pro tablet, a hybrid that can be used as a laptop as well as a tablet, has gained huge popularity across the world. The Microsoft Surface Phone too is expected to offer similar capabilities. Rumors have it that it will be a phablet device that will carry support for Surface Pen.

It will be running on Windows 10 Mobile OS and through the Continuum feature, it will function like a PC when connected to a larger display. According to WM Power User, Microsoft will soon start support for Win32 desktop apps for Continuum. However, since the ARM processor can’t such apps, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL phones won’t support Win32 desktop apps.

A smartphone with x86 processor can support Win32 apps. The Surface Phone is rumored to feature an Intel chipset with x86 CPU. Hence, the alleged smartphone is likely carry support for Win32 apps out-of-the-box.

The Surface Phone will be launched to compete with Apple iPhone 7 that is expected to release in September this year. Rumors suggest that Surface Phone tech specs include 5.5-inch Quad HD display, 4 GB of RAM, 21-megapixel PureView shooter, 8-megapixel selfie camera, 64 GB and 128 GB storage editions and 256 GB microSD card support and wireless charging.
