MidAmerica Bank, recently acquired by National City Corp., plans to cut 390 jobs early next year, according to a notice filed with Illinois officials.
The job cuts, which take effect Feb. 16, represent about 19 percent of MidAmerica Bank's work force. MidAmerica operates 82 branch offices throughout Chicago and Milwaukee and surrounding areas.
Last week, National City completed its acquisition of MAF Bancorp Inc., the holding company for MidAmerica Bank. When the deal was announced in May, it was valued at $1.9 billion in stock.
