THE BOTTOM LINE:
The Low pressure area has developed over the Upper Plains right on schedule and we have heavy rains hitting much of central and southern MN ... northern and eastern WI ( the rains came thru southwest WI in the pre-dawn hours) as the Low moves into southern WI. Its cold front is sweeping through Chicago and western IND into southeast MO and western KY then into northwest ARK and southeast OK.
The SHORT TERM 10/6 - 10/8... forecast is unchanged. The Low tracks though the Great Lakes today and into eastern ONT by Wednesday Morning then over Montreal by Wednesday afternoon... spreading heavy rains over these areas. Over the Plains and Midwest temperatures will run seasonally cool and it will be Dry.
In the MEDIUM RANGE 10/9 - 10/11... forecast models still show the strong cold front sweeping though the Plains Coast on the 8th and into the Midwest on the 9th. And a wave of Low pressure forms on the the front over eastern OK and southeast MO that brings moderate to heavy rains on the 9th into early on the 10th over the ECB. Meanwhile the massive cold High drops out of NW Canada. Temps drop into the 20s over eastern MT and western ND on the morning of the 8th and Upper teens on the Morning of the 9th..10th ..11th.
In the 6-10 DAY 10/12 - 10/ 16... The cold pattern continues over the Midwest in this time frame but is breaking down by the 13th and 14th h as the cold High slides east of the East coast.. winds become West or Southwest over the Plains and Midwest and the Pacific Jet blast the western Canada to heck. By the 15th a new system has moved into the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies with showers and much milder temps.

In the 11-15 DAY The pattern looks Mild with a few rain chances but right now weather Models do NOT show nay significant rain event for the Plains and / or Midwest. I think the models are too dry but right now I will go with a fairly dry pattern.
