Fans of the original “Lord of the Rings” game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will have to wait a little bit longer for the game’s upcoming sequel. Developer Monolith Productions announced Thursday the sequel Middle-earth: Shadow of War will have its release delayed until Oct. 10.

In a post confirming the news, Monolith said it needed more time to finish the game. Originally, the title had a slated launch date of late August when it was first confirmed in February. Monolith also confirmed it would show the game at next week’s E3 2017 in Los Angeles.

“We understand that it might be disappointing to have to wait a little longer for the release and are sorry for the delay, but we are working hard to make an amazing game,” Monolith said.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War will continue from where 2014’s Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor left off. In the game, which is set chronologically between “The Hobbit” and the main “Lord of the Rings” series, you continue in the role of Talion, a ranger who must raise an army to fight against Sauron and his minions.

The game also features an expanded version of Shadow of Mordor ’s Nemesis system, which lets the relationship between players and enemies change organically, depending on your actions. The game has new character types known as Followers, who can work alongside you for in-game missions.

Earlier this year, Monolith also released an extensive 16-minute walkthrough for Shadow of War that highlighted many of the game’s newer features. In particular, the game showcased newer nuances to its upgraded Nemesis system. In one sequence, your player is in serious danger from an enemy orc but gets saved by another orc who can become your companion based on your in-game actions.

Upon its release, the original Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor got high scores and praise from critics thanks to its gameplay, the Nemesis system and its story.
