Manfred (François Arnaud) doubts that he made the right decision to move to Midnight.

In a sneak peek from Season 1, episode 4 of NBC’s “Midnight, Texas,” the psychic tells his dead grandmother Xylda (Joanne Camp) that he’s not sure whether moving from Dallas to Midnight was a smart play.

“The online psychic thing is fine but I need to make some serious money,” Manfred confides to Xylda, before mentioning that Hightower is still after him.

Xylda suggests that Manfred should try to reach out to his rich clients from Dallas. He, however, doesn’t think that any of his clients from Dallas would be willing to drive five hours to Midnight just to have a face-to-face appointment with him in his “crappy RV.”

“My A-list client expects a certain level [of luxury like] nice hotels, stocked mini bar. It makes them feel they’re getting their money’s worth,” explains Manfred.

When Xylda tries to cheer his grandson up by saying that she’s got a feeling that his luck is going to change real soon, Manfred brings the conversation back to Hightower and plays the latest audio message the psychic received from the mystery character.

“Hightower is old school and this isn’t about money,” Manfred says of why Hightower is after him. “He wants his pound of flesh.”

Manfred and Xylda’s conversation is then cut short when a woman comes knocking at the door of Manfred’s RV.

“You’re the psychic?” asks the woman. “The guy at the pawnshop said you’re the real deal. I need to find my brother. I’m not sure I believe in all these but I’ve got to try something.”

When Manfred points out that finding a missing person is tough, the woman says that she’ll pay him five grand for it. Manfred quickly agrees and says that finding someone is his specialty.

The sneak peek doesn’t reveal the identity of the missing man, but it’s possible that he’s one of the unfortunate victims of the mysterious woman who has arrived in Midnight.

In the trailer for episode 4, the enigmatic woman seduces a man on the road, who she seemingly murders with her beast-like teeth. Lemuel (Peter Mensah) later identifies the woman as a succubus, noting that he hasn’t seen one for over a century.

The synopsis for the episode reveals that Manfred teams up with his fellow Midnight residents to venture to the roadside bar where the succubus is seemingly taking the lives of her victims. Can the Midnighters successfully put an end to the succubus’ insatiable appetite for murder?

“Midnight, Texas” Season 1, episode 4, titled “Sexy Beast,” airs Monday, Aug. 14, at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
