A faceless supernatural arrives in Midnight in Season 1, episode 8 of “Midnight, Texas.”

The synopsis for the next episode of the NBC series reveals that the faceless supernatural travels all the way to Midnight to usher in the advent of a demon from the veil to hell — the same demon that has been tormenting Fiji (Parisa Fitz-Henley) since Season 1, episode 2.

As revealed in the trailer for the episode, the faceless supernatural turns the Midnighters against each other. In the video, Fiji, Bobo (Dylan Bruce) and Creek (Sarah Ramos) prepare to fight for their lives, while lovers Olivia (Arielle Kebbel) and Lem (Peter Mensah) face off against each other.

The demon in question took a liking to Fiji while ridding Manfred’s place from ghosts back in episode 2. When the demon called out to her at the time, Fiji asked what it wanted. And much to her shock, the demon said that it wanted her.

At the end of episode 2, Manfred (François Arnaud) managed to bring the demon back to where it belongs. Using his great-great-great-great grandmother’s skull, Manfred called out to his ancestor’s power and banished the demon back to its own dimension. But at the end of the episode, Fiji still heard the demon’s voice, demanding her attention.

In Season 1, episode 6, Fiji woke up to a demonic hand griping hold of her thigh. Fiji thought that it’s just a nightmare, but when she pulled back her night gown, she found claw marks on her leg, confirming that what she just saw was real.

In Season 1, episode 7, Fiji told the Rev (Yul Vazquez) that the demon hasn’t gone yet. “Sometimes it calls my name,” Fiji shared. “Sometimes it laughs. When I don’t hear it, I’m just waiting. I like it better when I thought I was going crazy.”

Elsewhere in episode 8, Lem and the Rev’s hunger increases to dangerous levels as they struggle to fight the effects of the veil opening in the town. Meanwhile, Creek (Sarah Ramos) struggles in the face of great loss as Manfred confronts his constant self medicating.

“Midnight, Texas” Season 1, episode 8, titled “Last Temptation of Midnight,” airs on Monday, Sept. 11 at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
