Manfred needs the help of the man who previously sealed the veil to hell in tonight’s episode of “Midnight, Texas.”

In a sneak peek from Season 1, episode 9 of the NBC series, Manfred (François Arnaud) asks Joe (Jason Lewis) who closed the veil the last time it opened in Midnight.

“It didn’t hold forever, obviously,” the fallen angel tells the psychic. “But it was a shaman … weird guy, tall covered with … tattoos.”

When Manfred asks if the shaman happened to tell Joe how he managed to close the veil at the time, Joe reveals that the shaman didn’t actually survive, noting that they recovered the shaman’s “burned” body “in pieces” a day after he sealed the veil.

When Manfred learns from Joe that the shaman’s remains were buried underneath the Rev’s (Yul Vazquez) church, Manfred decides to dig him up to ask some pointers. But will Manfred get the advice he needs before an apocalyptic sandstorm engulfs the whole town?

Elsewhere in the episode, Bobo (Dylan Bruce) vows to protect Fiji (Parisa Fitz-Henley) from Colcannar and wonders why the demon has targeted her and no one else.

Meanwhile, Olivia (Arielle Kebbel) confronts Lem (Peter Mensah) about their relationship. The romance between the two started to fall apart when Olivia mentioned to Lem in Season 1, episode 7 that they have an expiration date. “You stay like this, and I’ll get old and that can’t work indefinitely,” the assassin tells the vampire. “So when the time comes, I’ll leave. Not anytime soon but eventually.”

Although Lem reminded Olivia that he could always turned her into a vampire, that isn’t a choice for her. “I don’t wanna be turned,” Olivia said.

Things between the couple got worse when Lem tried to turn Olivia in Season 1, episode 8. Although Olivia was able to stop Lem from biting her, his attempt to turn her led to a brutal fight between them. Can the two still reconcile after everything that has happened?

“Midnight, Texas” Season 1, episode 9, titled “Riders on the Storm,” airs tonight at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC. Watch the sneak peeks below:
