Say goodbye to sex if you’re over 40 because Miley Cyrus just gave intimacy a shelf life. Sexuality is one of those things that fades -- at least that’s what she’s been told. The 20-year-old sat down for an interview with Matt Lauer on "Today" to promote her new album, "BANGERZ," and things got a little awkward when she blatantly told him that his sex life was over because he is 55.

"I heard when you turn 40 things start to go a little less sexual," the “Wrecking Ball” singer said as she kicked her legs around while seated on a tall stool. Lauer had asked if the sexy side of the former “Hannah Montana” star was here to stay, but she said she only plans on getting naked on wrecking balls for another 20 years. "Probably around 40," she said about her risqué behavior being put to rest. "I heard that’s when people don’t have sex anymore."

Lauer seemed to be caught off guard by the brash statement and then asked Cyrus point-blank how old she thought he was. “40?” she said, unsure. The host was happy to hear that she thought he was 15 years younger, but the good feelings didn’t last long. "Well, then you’re really, definitely not sexual," she asserted. Maybe Cyrus needs to work on her grace a little?

In a recent documentary about her life for MTV, Cyrus told cameras in "Miley: The Movement" that all the controversy surrounding her twerking during her unforgettable Video Music Awards performance comes a big concocted plan by her to get everyone’s attention. Was her latest assertion about sex lives being over after 40 part of that plan or just a gaffe from a 20-year-old egomaniac? Either way, you can't really get too offended by someone who dresses up as an oversized teddy bear for the VMAs and licks sledge hammers.

Whether it was deliberate or not, Cyrus seems to be playing hand in the pop game. After all, bad press is better than no press. Right, Miley? Check out the “Wrecking Ball” star’s awkward interview with Lauer below and decide for yourself:
