A new victim of the salacious Marine and military photo scandal has come forward as reports circulated about veterans and active-duty service members’ persistent efforts to post naked pictures and videos to social media, the Daily Beast reported Wednesday.

The latest iteration of the Facebook group in question was called Marines United 3.0. It has posted nude pictures and videos, along with a shared online drive where members could swap photos of female service members, including one person interviewed by the Daily Beast but whose identity was protected.

Altogether, the Daily Beast uncovered six shared drives that contained hundreds of nude photographs from other versions of Marines United. Two of those included pictures obtained without the subject's permission.

Flying in the face of a Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) probe, the group has persisted. It was first shut down in January, but new versions were created with the same name, such as Marines United, followed by Marines United 2.0 and the newest one. A source told the Daily Beast “extreme vetting” was used for members in order “to prevent infiltration.”

“This is not what normal people do to each other,” a female Marine reservist called “Kim” said.

She added that those who were exchanging the photos “must have some need for vengeance toward somebody. I mean, why is this fun? What makes this so fun? If you want to see naked people, go to porn sites. I don’t understand the logic behind it. It’s to the point now that I’m just numb.”

As recently as last week, a shared Google Drive was posted to the new group of ex-Marine Lance Cpl. Cody Fielder. He admitted to the posts but said he took no responsibility for what was shared while he encouraged members to upload “only the nastiest shit.”

Kim is one of the several victims who have spoken out against the scandal that’s stained the Marines Corps and the military at large, with many reports implicating every branch of the military and even members of the British Royal Navy.

But NCIS’ investigation had also unearthed photos and videos of men donned in Marine uniforms performing sex acts that were posted to gay pornography websites.
