When the Los Angeles Lakers traded for Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Clippers acquired both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the two teams that call Staples Center home separated themselves from the rest of the league as the favorites to win the 2020 NBA Finals. It took more than six months, but the L.A. teams are no longer universally given the best chance to be this year’s champions.

The Milwaukee Bucks are the new NBA favorites at BetOnline with +300 title odds. The Lakers are second at +350, followed by the Clippers at +400.

The Philadelphia 76ers are a distant fourth with +900 odds to win the NBA Finals. The Houston Rockets (+1200) are considered to be the No. 3 contenders in the West.

Milwaukee is well on its way to earning the NBA’s best record for the second straight year. The Bucks have been even more dominant in 2019-2020, going 39-6 through 45 games. They are eight games in front of the No. 2 seed Miami Heat and four games ahead of the Lakers for the top mark in the league.

The Lakers are 3.5 games ahead of the Clippers for the West’s No. 1 seed.

The Bucks are outscoring their opponents by an incredible 12.7 points per game. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the odds-on favorite to win back-to-back MVP awards. He’s averaging 30.0 points, 12.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists in only 30.6 minutes per game.

Leonard and the Toronto Raptors stopped Milwaukee in the 2019 Eastern Conference Finals, winning four straight games after falling into a 2-0 series hole. With the two-time NBA Finals MVP in the other conference, the Bucks could potentially cruise through the East this postseason.

Plenty of sportsbooks still put the Lakers and Clippers on par with the Bucks. FanDuel gives all three teams +320 championship odds. Milwaukee also has +320 odds at DraftKings, where the two Los Angeles teams have +300 title odds.
