‘The Mindy Project’
There are only eight episodes left before Mindy Lahiri says goodbye in “The Mindy Project” Season 6. Hulu

Production has wrapped up for “The Mindy Project” Season 6, and lead star Mindy Kaling made sure to remember the special moment.

On her Twitter account, the actress shared a photo of herself as Mindy Lahiri sitting behind her desk at work. She is wearing a blue dress and is also looking up to the ceiling. Mindy has a huge smile on her face, which seems to signify that everything will end well for the character.

“The Mindy Project” Season 6 will only have a total of 10 episodes before it officially says goodbye to fans. The premiere already kicked off on Hulu on Sept. 12.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kaling expressed her excitement over the final season renewal for “The Mindy Project.” “We’re really excited about this last season. I think the timing is exactly right. What’s weird is, Mindy is married at the end of the Season 5 finale, but she has never been married in the series, so that’s incredibly fun for a character who’s been obsessed with marriage and has come so close many times, and seeing her disavow it for a while after her disastrous breakup with who she thought was her soulmate. And now she’s married!” she said.

But Mindy won’t stay married for a very long time because during the 10-month time-jump, the character decided to file for divorce from Ben (Bryan Greenberg). This has led to speculations that Mindy’s ex, Danny (Chris Messina), will try to win her back. After all, just a few weeks before Season 6 premiered, Kaling herself announced that Messina will reprise his role in multiple episodes.

However, Kaling also stressed the fact that Messina wasn’t invited back to give fans a fairytale ending for the beloved characters. “We aren’t super interested in tying everything up in a bow. We’re trying to avoid that, while also leaving the audience with the sense that Mindy had some growth… Happily ever can sometimes be romantic happiness, but it can also be a feeling of contentment about your life as a professional person and as a mother,” she told TV Line.

“The Mindy Project” Season 6 airs Tuesdays on Hulu.
