Mindy Kaling recently opened up about her pregnancy and shared what kind of mom she hopes she will be.

While speaking with “Today” on Sunday, the funny woman admitted that she just feels very “anxious” to become a first-time mom. “But I’d like to be the fun mom. I know I’m gonna be the dorky mom. So, if I could be kind of fun, too, I think that would be nice,” she said.

Despite her anxiousness, Kaling still managed to joke about women who tend to criticize another woman’s parenting skills even though they are not a mom themselves. “It’s so easy to criticize parenting until you’re a parent. So, one of the nice things about becoming a parent is that I’ll be able to openly criticize other parenting because I will have a child,” she quipped.

But if there’s one thing Kaling aspires to be in the mom department, it’s to be as loving, dedicated and supportive as her mom was to her and her brother, Vijay. “My mom was incredibly fierce and so supportive to us. She just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did,” she said.

Kaling’s mom, Swati Roysircar, passed away in 2012 after battling pancreatic cancer. When she was still alive, the 36-year-old actress’ mom wasn’t really familiar with the world of acting, but she will gave Kaling her 100 percent support. “If I could give that to my child, just that open-mindedness, I’d be so happy,” she concluded.

Meanwhile, Kaling and her “The Mindy Project” Season 6 co-stars have already wrapped up filming for the hit Hulu TV series. But so much are still in store for the characters since Season 6 will have a total of 10 episodes. On Tuesday, the third installment will be released, and it center on Mindy Lahiri (Kaling) dealing with her divorce from Ben (Bryan Greenberg).

May Divorce Be With You” will also see the lead character turning to her ex-boyfriend, Cliff (Glenn Howerton) for advice. Peter (Adam Saul Pally) will also return to town to help pull his best friend out of the slump.

“The Mindy Project” Season 6 airs Tuesdays on Hulu.
