“The Mindy Project” Season 6 will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 12 on Hulu.

According to TV Line, the Mindy Kaling-starrer will have a total of 10 episodes for its final season. Originally, “The Mindy Project” aired on FOX from Seasons 1 to 3, but in 2015 the network decided to cancel it. Luckily for the fans of the show, Hulu picked up and renewed it for Seasons 4 to 6.

During this time, executive producer Matt Warburton told E! News that “The Mindy Project” on FOX will be similar to the episodes that will air on Hulu. “I think people will be amazed that it’s the same show. I think we’re being pretty disciplined about not letting the episodes get too long. We’re still breaking them with act breaks in mind,” he said.

Meanwhile, after it was announced that Season 6 will be the last for the hit series, one of the biggest questions was whether or not Chris Messina, who played the role of Mindy Lahiri’s (Kaling) lover, will return to the final 10 installments. In April, the actor spoke with Variety to say that he wants to reprise his role in Season 6, but he is still unsure whether or not it will happen.

“I don’t know yet. We haven’t talked about it yet. I love those guys, though, and I would love to come back. It’s an amazing group of people. I love Mindy. I love that character that she wrote for me. That whole experience was like a master class in comedy, watching all of those actors. The writers were super gifted. I would love to come back. I’m not sure what’s going to happen yet, but I hope so,” he said.

As of late, there is still no word regarding Messina’s return to the Hulu series. But “The Mindy Project” Season 6 will primarily focus on Mindy’s life as a married woman. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Kaling said, “The final season is the final time – it’s the best time – to confront what that reality is for her. And really, we’ve put her through the ringer. It’s hard,” she said.
