The trailer for the upcoming Tarsem Singh film Mirror, Mirror has been released, and it appears the movie is going for a funnier take on the Snow White fairy tale.

Mirror, Mirror will hit U.S. theaters on March 16, 2012, ahead of Snow White and the Huntsman, which comes out in June. That movie, starring Kristen Stewart, promises a more dramatic rendering of the story, with Charlize Theron playing an especially sinister Evil Queen.

Julia Roberts plays the Evil Queen in Mirror, Mirror -- with a wavering accent -- and has her sights set on the handsome, younger prince, portrayed by Armie Hammer of The Social Network fame.

Judging by the trailer, 22-year-old Lily Collins will bring some spunk to the fairy tale princess.

I've read so many stories where the prince saves the princess, Collins' Snow White tells the prince, who is caught in a trap. It's time we change that ending.

Mirror, Mirror won't be the first time a director puts a goofy spin on the classic fairy tale. In the 2007 romantic comedy Sydney White, comedic actress Amanda Bynes played a college freshman who befriends seven dorks.
