The newly-crowned Miss Universe, Leila Lopes, who is surrounded by criticism barely a week after she won the title, will visit Singapore on Thursday ahead of the Formula One Weekend.

Leila Lopes, 25, will be at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, to meet her fans. This will be her first public appearance after she won the crown last week at Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Miss Angola's victory has been questioned again and again; critical comments from a fellow contestant, a judge and others are still making rounds on Facebook, Twitter and other social sites.

There are allegations that the 25-year-old used forged documents to get into an earlier pageant, where a win would eventually put her into the main Miss Universe competition.

Lopes, during her visit to Singapore, will be joined by nine other beauties including Miss Ukraine, Miss Ireland and Miss Singapore 2009, Rachel Kum.
