The "Harlem Shake" seemed to be finally dying as the Miami Heat were ceaselessly mocked for their attempt last week to capitalize on the YouTube dance craze. But the campaign staff of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell refuses to let it die in a new video.

If you haven't seen a "Harlem Shake" video, we're not sure how you have enough knowledge of the Internet to even find this article, but perhaps you just stick to political news. Today that category of intrigue co-opted the viral Baueer hit, which has produced more rip-offs and impressions than anything since Psy's "Gangnam Syle" (which, we can say, has at last seemed to fall off the radar. If you haven't seen that one yet, you probably actually have and didn't know it. If you really haven't, then welcome to the Internet).

Anyway, it appears that the reelection campaign staff for McConnell, a Kentucky Republican not known for his hipness (he's no Sen. Frank Lautenberg, attending a Lady Gaga concert as an octogenarian), is hipper than we thought.

McConnell's team of young believers has released a video featuring some of the worst dancing yet to be recorded for the meme. Well, it is Washington after all.

Actually, the video was shot at the iconic Churchill Downs, and the folks starring in it are local Republican college students working on McConnell's campaign, the Washington Post reported.

“We are going to have a lot of energy in the campaign and work very hard, but we are also going to have a lot of fun!” McConnell campaign manager Jesse Benton said, according to CNN.

The clips' slow intro begins with a terrifically-bad dancer swaying in a McConnell mask, and ends with a mishmash of staffers trying to re-create the craziness that defines "Harlem Shake" mania.
