Mitt Romney Glitter-Bombed
U.S. Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and his wife Ann are "glitter bombed" for the first time as they make their way to the stage at a campaign stop in Eagan, Minnesota February 1, 2012. Romney is expected to begin receiving U.S. Secret Service protection later on Wednesday. Reuters

Mitt Romney was glitter-bombed by a gay activist Wednesday in Minnesota as he took the stage at a political rally the day after he won the Florida GOP primary.

He tried to take the event in stride, referring to the glitter-bomb as confetti shortly after other people on stage brushed glitter from his clothes and hair.

There's the guy -- wave your hand over there -- who threw the glitter. There he goes. Hi there, how are ya? Hi there. How are you? Good to see you. There we go, Mitt Romney bumbled from the stage in Eagan, Minn., as he recovered from being glitter-bombed. Hey, listen guys. I am delighted to be here. This is an exciting time. I'm happy for the little celebration. This is confetti. We just won Florida, we're just gonna win the White House next.

The activist, Robert Erickson, has done a series of glitter-bombings in the past, according a reporter with local station WCCO. His past targets include GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and former candidate Michele Bachmann, according to CBS News. Erickson's father was apparently deported to Colombia, CBS News reported, which may be one of the reasons the left-wing activist has been doing the series of glitter bomings.
