It's been a busy time for the FBI. First they caught the number one most wanted man, Osama Bin Laden, and now have captured the second man in line: James Whitey Bulger.

Bulger was on the run from authorities for 16 years. The Boston-based mobster was arrested last night in Santa Monica, California where he was living with his girlfriend Catherine Greig.

There were more than 20 guns and a small fortune in cash found in his apartment. He and Greig were using the aliases Charles and Carol Gasko, according to a report by Boston.com

Bulger was the inspiration behind aspects of Jack Nichols's character in the Academy Award-winning film The Departed which was released in 2006.

The film also starred Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio.

In the film Nicholson played a Boston mafia kingpin who was also mixed in with the FBI. Bulger was a longtime FBI informant who had been warned about his upcoming arrest by the FBI in 1995 by agent John J. Connolly Jr.

Bulger was allegedly the head of Boston's Winter Hill Gang. He allegedly played a key role in approximately 19 murders committed from the 1970s through the mid-1980s.
