The copper market has traded lower this morning due in large part to fears of more US slowing evidence ahead. In addition to the evidence of lackluster Chinese copper demand from a large weekly jump in Shanghai copper stocks, the copper market may also be concerned that the US economy will provide further evidence of more economic slowing later on this morning. Shanghai copper stocks posted a gain of 5,532 tons overnight, and that news was given additional credence by news of a daily LME copper stocks gain of 1,450 tons. The copper market may also have been pressured by news that a copper mine in Chile was able to avoid a work stoppage.
