News that Chinese steel production rose to another record level last year may have provided copper prices with some support this morning in the face of widespread Asian market closures. Copper may have found additional support from a weaker Dollar and across the board gains in precious metals prices, which may have offset a mixed to choppy performance from global equity markets. Global markets may be projecting the European debt situation as a positive this morning, despite the lack of forward movement in the Greek debt swap discussions.
