December heating oil prices traded slightly lower during the initial morning hours, under pressure from weakness in Brent crude oil and gains in the US dollar. Meanwhile, threats to northeast distillate supplies from Hurricane Sandy are seen as a limiting force. The supply situation in the Northeast has become very tight, from lost refinery activity and decline in imports. New York cash distillate markets were higher yesterday as operators built up supply ahead of the expected arrival of Hurricane Sandy.
