October natural gas traded higher throughout the overnight and early morning hours. Some traders suggested that the recent strength in natural gas was the result of short covering, as well as freeze warnings across the Northern US. Tropical storm activity in the Atlantic shows a newly emerging low-pressure system south of the Cape Verde Islands. Expectations for this morning's EIA natural gas storage report call for a build in the range of 85 to 90 bcf, which compares to a gain of 96 bcf last year and the average five year injection of 79 bcf.
