March natural gas prices opened decisively lower Tuesday evening and continued to decline during the early morning hours. It seems that the market has become concerned over aggressive US production, record supplies and lack of a demand catalyst. The 6 to 10 day weather maps show a smaller area of normal to above normal temperatures in the Western half of the US, with a larger area of below average temperatures in the Southeast. However, any potential boost in heat-related demand is seen running below year ago levels and is likely to continue to add to surplus inventories compared to last year.
