June natural gas prices grinded lower throughout the overnight and early morning hours. Prices received a modest lift Friday afternoon in response to Baker Hughes drilling rig count data that fell to a fresh 10-year low. Meanwhile, warmer than normal weather forecasts along the east coast are forces keeping heat-related demand for natural gas under pressure. The Commitments of Traders Futures and Options report as of April 24th showed non-commercial traders were net short 118,324 contracts, a decrease of 6,617. Non-commercial and nonreportable traders combined held a net short position of 96,943 contracts, down 1,877 on the week.
