June natural gas trended lower during the overnight and initial morning hours, as it appeared to correct Friday's breakout trade. The 6 to 10 day weather maps continue to forecast above normal temperatures throughout the northeast, and that is seen driving up consumption of air-conditioning demand for natural gas. The Commitments of Traders Futures and Options report as of May 15th showed non-commercial traders were net short 108,546 contracts, a decrease of 4,983. Non-commercial and nonreportable traders combined held a net short position of 82,452 contracts, for a decrease of 10,463 in their net short positioning. Some traders viewed the buying trend of the speculator as a positive short term force.
